Windsor 2025 Day Six
By: Rae, Rebekah, and Katie
We started our morning a little later than usual because of our late night yesterday (and Kathryn forgot to wake the girls up ๐). For our daily devotions this morning Abigail K generously volunteered to lead the lesson that we had about having patience no matter the circumstances. Once we were finished, we hopped in the vans and drove our separate way (while listening to some banger music) to collect the food from the food drive that we handed out flyers for on Sunday. While some groups got a lot of food donations, Tymonโs group only got three donations, but they still had great purpose and lots of fun doing it. We do not know the exact calculation of how much we got but we will still be proud of ourselves no matter what. After the food bank we went back to the church to chill and refuel our energy. Once we finished, we went to Feeding Windsor where we had a delicious meal of hot dogs and sweet potato fries. Yum! After we were done we drove while vibinโ straight to Ambassador Community Church for our EXTREMELY EXICITING AMAZING AND (TOTALLY POPULAR THIS YEAR) day camp for the kids at the church. We had a blast! Playing 9 square, duck goose tag and more outdoor activities and crafts inside like bracelets, colouring pages, pipe cleaner creations, and cards to convince Tymon to get ice cream. Halfway through this fun experience, some of the members from our team left to help out look after some kids at a parent child program helping with kids ages 1-10. They stayed there while we completed our day activities and headed over to Feeding Windsor to help them prepare for their community dinner they were hosting. To help them prepare we did things like plating food, preparing salads (where Rae REALLY enjoyed using the HUGE knife) handing out the food and distributing out deserts. When all the plates were all handed out, the people who helped out in the kitchen went and joined everyone else to eat with the people attending the community dinner. We heard some amazing storyโs from some of the people we talked to, including reasons to pray from them while also hearing about some of the amazing organizations that some of them started. Rebekah started a big rant about getting ice cream for dessert. WE had a plan to trick Tymon into signing a piece of paper that involved him buying us ice cream. After many people asking and nagging Tymon, he finally cooperated. As we ate ice cream we drove to the Detroit river and froze our buts off standing there. And crazy enough some people were wearing SHORTS! Once we ran over to the vans and drove back to the church, we did a debrief about what we were thankful for and did a great popcorn prayer. (but Kathryn and Taryn could not stop giggling throughout our conversation). As we were writing the blog of the day, we realized that Tymon was silly and accidentally left all the extra ice cream boxes at the park! Aswell as our beautiful cards that the kids made. So Tymon ran out to find them. We had some doubts but he came through and came back to read our cards. The end.
