THRIVE

We want to see you thrive spiritually by engaging in real conversations about God and the Bible, as you explore biblical truth.

We believe you will thrive in faith together with others through worship, teaching, and the many opportunities we have at Compass in groups for kids, students and adults.

We want to help you take next steps to thrive in your faith journey through spiritual practices, baptism, child dedication and more!

HELPING KIDS THRIVE

We have a deep desire that children would not only experience what it means to know and follow Jesus Christ but even more that they would become His disciples. Each week the environment and age-appropriate teaching methods are designed to help your kids understand the Bible and learn to apply its teaching to their lives.

THRIVING STUDENTS

Compass Students is a ministry focused on reaching students in junior high (grades 6-8) and senior high (grades 9-12) to share the love of Christ in environments that are welcoming, intentional, safe and fun. Our mission is to create a fun and exciting environment to help students grow in their relationship with God.

KEEP THRIVING AS YOUNG ADULTS

The Young Adult Ministry at Compass is a place where adults between the ages of 18-28 can experience the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. Our mission is ultimately an extension of the mission of Compass Community Church, which is "to glorify God by making disciples who love Him completely and others sacrificially."

THRIVING AS ADULTS

No matter what age or stage of life you are in, you are sure to find a place to connect and thrive at Compass. Find out more about our groups for women, men, and seniors. Register for Bible studies, Freedom Session and Discover Compass classes too!

Personal next steps to consider.

At Compass our desire is for children and families to thrive. Child Dedication is a meaningful way for parents and guardians along with our church family to commit to raising children in the love and knowledge of God and connect them to Jesus and to community.

Child Dedication

  • Child dedication is a public celebration of God’s blessing and gift of children, a sacred trust. During the dedication service, parents and guardians commit before God, church, and family to pursue and embrace a deep, loving relationship with God through Jesus Christ, modelling and nurturing the same in their children.

Parents and guardians seek the support of the body of Christ (church and family), and the guidance of the Holy Spirit as they offer themselves and their children to God. The church and extended family respond with a loving commitment to support the parents as they all journey together.

Jesus clearly said that the local church exists to make disciples. One of the important steps in the disciple-making process is believer’s baptism, a public proclamation of the amazing work of grace that Jesus has done in a life. Even if you were baptized as an infant, we’ll baptize you again because this time it’s your choice.

Baptism

  • Baptism is a symbol – a picture demonstrated openly and publicly to tell others what God did for you when you became a believer. It’s a backward look – at the resurrection of Jesus Christ as evidence that His death was sufficient for your sins.

  • It is a present identification – by obeying Jesus and being baptized, you are identifying yourself as a disciple of Jesus Christ. You are making a public declaration that God is in control of your life and that you want to follow Jesus.

  • It’s a commitment for the future – this symbol of baptism signifies a genuine spiritual reality in your life. You are telling everyone that you are dead to sin, alive to God, and free to serve and follow Jesus Christ (Romans 6:6-13; 22-23).

Church membership matters. It’s a physical way of affirming a spiritual commitment. It publicly identifies you as a follower of Jesus Christ. It expresses your dedication to the mission of the gospel and to the people of God here at Compass. It is a declaration that you have chosen to be part of this local church family. Spiritual practices to get you started today!

Pray Daily.

Prayer is the practice of simply “talking to God” and having an open conversation with him. Prayer develops our relationship with God and demonstrates our trust in him. Time in prayer can revive our hearts, renew our minds, and guide us in daily life. He always hears us when we pray! You can start your conversation with Jesus using our “Five Days of Prayer” guide.

Practice Fasting.

Fasting as a spiritual practice is not a health fad or old-fashioned religious discipline. It’s taught in the Bible and is for a specific time and purpose. Fasting is a voluntary, challenging reminder that you have God’s favour, and he can sustain you in a way that nothing in the world can. It’s a practical way to say no to your appetites and focus your dependence on God.

Read the Bible.

Understanding the Bible isn’t for the few, the gifted, or the scholarly. The Bible is accessible. It’s meant to be read and comprehended by everyone. The Bible is a profoundly relational book, as it draws us into deeper communion with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Bible reading is meant to be relational and transformational.
