Windsor 2025 Day Seven
By: Abigail, Julia, and Ben
This morning we woke up and we actually had options for breakfast because of perfect Kathryn (everyone was excited about the grapes). Then we did devotions which talked about encouraging others. After that we hopped in the van and headed to DWCC (Downtown Windsor Community Collaborative) for a community walk with Nate Hope. He showed us all the different places that they work on within their perish. It was really cool to see the ways they were involved in the community and he encouraged us to help out in similar ways at in our own communities at home. Our last stop was a community kitchen that the team last year helped clean and get running. It was really cool to see it finished and they had VERY delicious food that we got to try. After that our amazing leader Kathryn drove half of us to lunch (Tymon drove the other half but not as stunningly beautiful as Kathryn). Once we got to Feeding Windsor we had sandwiches, salad, and chips. Then Tymon dropped us off in an ally that had two dead animals and glass, but our gorgeous leader Kathryn saved us all. Just kidding! Tymon and Nate led us to an alley they asked us to help clean up and as we were cleaning up we came across those things. We had safety equipment and garbage bags that we were filling up. After the ally we headed over to the park where a stranger offered Tymon ice cream and HE ACCEPTED IT while our excellent leader Kathryn took some of us to the bathroom and we didn’t get lost. Just kidding again. The stranger was actually an owner of an ice cream shop that Nate knew and he appreciated what we were doing. Poor leader Abby and the little Abby found a dead cat under a tree but fortunately Tymon came to the rescue and put the cat in a trash bag. Then we played house, grounders and hide n’ seek with the kids in the super nice weather at the park. Next our brave and fearless leader Kathryn drove us to dinner which was absolutely amazing because we had pasta, salad, and bread sticks. Ben ate 11 tomato slices today and 9 yesterday because they were so amazing and delicious. Finally, we went back to the church to do a debrief and played games while waiting for our movie night. We landed on watching the most recent Despicable Me movie which was great and everyone enjoyed. We are so happy that we were able to come down here to serve others and show them the love God has for them.
