Windsor 2024 Day Six
The Bare Necessities
By: Jacob, Trista, Alexa
Hey y’all!
Today was a total blast nearing the end of the week. To start off the morning we woke up, had showers, and ate a bomb breakfast. We’re talking muffins, Shreddies, fruit, and coffee (only for the old folks). Then we did morning devotions and focused on 1 Thessalonians 5:11 where we looked at encouraging one another. After devos we waddled out the door like little tater tots. We headed to the community where Ambassador Community Church is located and collected a couple hundred pounds of food (we’re still waiting for the exact amount) and brought it to the local Foodbank.
After this, we headed to Feeding Windsor where we had scrumptious egg salad and tuna salad sandwiches, the only bare necessity we needed was gum. After, we headed back to Ambassador Community Church where we had the opportunity to connect with the children of the community, play games, and make crafts. Some of the games included, playing banana tag, duck duck goose and wax museum. We made drippy bracelets and glasses with pipe cleaners and beads. We also made paper planes and catapults which were super Sigma.
Soon after, we headed back to Feeding Windsor. Before dinner, we made some pretty epic signs for the Spitfires hockey game as seen below in the photos. Then it was time for dinner where we were able to serve and talk with some pretty cool humans that lived nearby (Shout out to Nathaniel and Ron). This is a dinner that Feeding Windsor does weekly to reach out to the homeless population and those that are generally less fortunate. It was honour and blessing to have the opportunity to spend time with the community whether it was speaking about their days or speaking about how the Lords working. This was a great reminder about how ministry doesn’t have to be a big flashy thing. It can be as easy as smiling or having a quick chat with someone, when it’s in God’s hands He can do so much more than we could ever imagine.
After dinner, we headed straight to the Spitfires game where we watched the Spits get SMOKED by the Guelph Storm. Although the score wasn’t close, we were close as a team, with a record breaking 600 (definitely an exaggeration) jumbotron moments. We had too much candy and definitely too much Prime (a disgusting blue raspberry “vitamin” drink). After the game, we woke up the entire city of Windsor shouting “Tater Tots” all the way back to our jungle AKA Big Bertha and Big Bert AKA DA VANNSS. Then we got back right at 10, sat down and wrote the best blog of the year.
Peace out fam, Jacob, Trista, Alexa
