Dominican Republic 2024 Day Eight

Today we stared off like normal. This included our morning devos on the roof with our reflection time. We also had a debate of who would win in a fight: a chicken or a tarantula. The team landed on a split vote, but considering one of the locals said the chicken was the favourite to win we’re considering the chicken the victor.

Next, we went down for breakfast, and we had … pancakes!!!!!!!! Our favourite breakfast! The other ones were just scrambled eggs. Now, don’t get us wrong we like scrambled eggs, but they just aren’t as tasty as pancakes.

We then got on the bus and headed towards the old city. On the way we played pharisees, and yet again Kathyrine got “killed” off first every round. In the old city we went to a chocolate shop and got some free samples (yay!), they were so tasty, (except for the 100% coco, it was disgusting). We then headed further into the city where we went into some of the tourist shops, and we argued over the price with the locals. Some of us may have still been ripped off, but it was still fun. The last place we went in the old city was the grocery store where some of us grabbed snacks and coffee and other goodies to bring to the next location. Nick himself bought 12 pounds of coffee if you can believe it! Cash bought a whole baguette which he ate during the whole ride to the caves, The Three Eyes.

The caves were cool (well actually it was QUITE hot), and it was a good attraction for taking pictures. There was even this whole lake that you can’t swim in. As teenage boys this was very disappointing and kathereeeen said we had to go before Cash got the opportunity to stick his hand in the water with the fish ☹.

Our last stop on our adventure was a beach located on the Caribbean Sea! It was honestly awesome!! During our time there we made human towers (some of us even getting upwards to three people tall!), and swam in the clearest water we’ve ever seen. There was a lot of seaweed, but it made for good ammo to attack katherin with. All in all, it was a great day and one of our personal favourites, it was full of jokes such as katherrrine being 50 years old and witnessing the extinction of the dinosaurs. As an added bonus, we found out she does not like feet, so we have one more thing to torment her with (*edit by KATHRYN* at this point this is straight up bullying…).

Ciao for now!

Cash and Nick
